Watermarking is necessary to protect our contents from misusing and being stolen. It is not a big issue for the pictures. We can add a copyright text to them using some photo editing apps or online tools and thus ensure no one will use them without your permission. But what about videos? Is it easy to insert logos on them to prove your ownership?
Yes, absolutely. Do you need any complex video editing apps for doing the job?
Nope. Our favorite VLC media player is enough to insert logos, watermark text on videos. It is not just a video player as you know and we can use it for basic video editing as well.
Watermark videos using VLC Media Player
Open your video in VLC media player and click the “Tools” menu on the top of the screen. Choose “Effects and Filters” from the options. A box will open with relevant settings.
Select “Video Effects” followed by “Overlay” settings.
Check the “Add logo” box and upload your image file to set it as your logo. Adjust its position using top, left fields and make the necessary changes based on the real-time preview in the background.
If you don’t have an image file and want to insert logo text on the videos, check the “Add text” box and enter your text in the field. Set its position where you’d like to show the text and go through different options until you are satisfied with the preview. Click the Close button to save and apply your changes.
How to save an edited video in VLC PLayer
Click the Media menu on the top and then choose Convert/Save.
Select your file via “Add” button and it will appear in the text box. Click the Convert/Save button. A box will open where you need to choose a destination folder to save the output. Type a name for the file and Save. Click the Start button to begin the conversion. Wait a few seconds to finish the process and save the file.
