1. Keyword Research
Semrush provides in-depth metrics of any keyword you entered. It includes keyword difficulty, global search volume, competitive density, CPC rate, and many others. So you can quickly know whether the chosen keyword is profitable and easy to rank.
Monitor search trends and search volume in your target locations to analyze the keyword popularity. Semrush organizes results in different sections so you can find a keyword type like questions easily.
Scroll-down to the bottom to view web pages ranking for the keyword in top 100 positions along with their number of backlinks, referred domains, search traffic, etc. Open them one by one to get full metrics such as organic keywords in the content, their main competitors, position changes, etc.
Semrush’s Keyword Magic Tool lets you find high paying, less competitive keywords in simple steps. By default, it shows metrics from US searches. If your target audience resides in another location, don’t forget to change the database source on the top.
Apply filters to discover keywords by their search volume, Keyword Difficulty, and CPC rate. The lower Keyword Difficulty rate helps you to find easy to rank keywords and higher CPC rate is useful to detect high-paying adsense keywords.
There is a small box on the left side of keyword results. It lets you head to certain sub-topics easily. For instance, we searched for ‘SEO audit’ in this example. If you want to detect keywords having ‘free’ with them, click on ‘Free’ from the left side box and Semrush will display all matching keywords instantly.

2. Backlink Analysis
Semrush is perfect to analyze and monitor backlinks of any website. Find your competitor’s new and lost domains, referring domains, anchors, backlink types, top countries, and top pages based on the number of backlinks.
It also provides exact information from which page your competitor got backlinks and with what anchor text. Prepare a better content that your competitor has, contact those referring domains, and ask them politely to replace the old link with yours. It is a legal method of stealing backlinks from the competitors to rank higher in SERPs.
Add more competitors on the top to compare two or more competitors at a time. Thus you can quickly find a gap between your site and that of competitors, then create content and backlinks accordingly.
