WordPress has updated to its latest 4.8 version recently. It brought some great tools for bands and entertainment lovers to personalize their website.
Let’s see how to add and manage audio as well as video widgets on a WordPress site.
Creating Audio and Video Widgets in WordPress
Are you a musician or music lover?
Do you want to add a music file in the sidebar, so your fans can easily listen to your latest works and leave feedbacks?
The latest WordPress version lets you add audio sidebar widget without any third party support. Open your media library and click Add New to upload a new audio file.
Choose your file from the system and hit Upload.
Wait a few seconds to finish the upload. Tap Edit link of a file to change its title, caption, description and Metadata. After making necessary changes click Update button from the right side of the screen.
Open Widgets from Appearance menu and choose Audio widget. Add it to your sidebar, footer or any other widget area.
Enter a title for your widget. Then, tap Add Audio button to insert the file we have just uploaded. Select your file. Here, you will get a chance again to edit the music file.
Click Insert from URL link from the left side to add an external file.
Click Add to Widget button to go back to your widget editor.
Edit Audio: It enables you to edit the file
Replace Audio: It enables you to replace the current audio file with a new one.
Save your settings. Now your blog visitors are able to hear the music from the sidebar widget.
Do you want to welcome readers with a video message? It’s a great idea to give an introduction or showcase products, reviews using videos.
You have to repeat the same steps for inserting videos as well. But instead of audio widgets, you should opt for a video widget in the first step. To locate it, scroll down to the bottom of your widgets area. It should be shown next to the text widget. Choose and insert your video.
How to play a YouTube video on your widget
Open Video widget and hit Add Video button to open your media library. Tap Insert from URL link from the left side of the screen.
Enter your video URL from YouTube, Vimeo or other services. The selected video will be loaded and click Add to Widget button to insert the file.
The video is automatically optimized according to the size of our widget. Normally, you are able to personalize video details including Metadata, File type, loop and subtitles. But we have limitations here as it’s an external file. Save your changes and see how it works on the frontend.
